This is the firmer, more targeted option. It is built for muscles that are genuinely tight, overworked, or recovering from training, rather than just generally stressed. I use deep pressure, targeted muscle work, and stretching techniques (including muscle energy technique and soft tissue release, more on those below) to get into specific problem areas, whether that's a runner's tight calves, a cyclist's hip flexors, or the chronic lower-back tension that comes from years at a desk. Sports Massage & Deep Tissue Massage in Cambridge

Who it's for?

Athletes preparing for or recovering from an event, regular gym-goers or runners managing training load, and non-athletes with chronic tightness, work-related strain, or restricted movement. If Swedish massage feels "too gentle" for what you're dealing with, this is usually the next step.

What happens in a session?

We'll talk through what you're training for (if anything), any problem areas, and your pain tolerance before starting. I work with firmer, more concentrated pressure than a relaxation massage, often combining direct muscle work with assisted stretching and specific techniques like soft tissue release to address tension at its source rather than just the surface. Expect some areas to feel intense in the moment. I'll check in throughout and adjust.

Benefits!

Relieves deep muscle tension, improves flexibility and range of motion, speeds up recovery after training or physical work, and helps correct the postural tightness that builds up from repetitive movement or long hours sitting.

A couple of things people ask...

Will it hurt?

It can feel intense on genuinely tight spots, but it shouldn't be unbearable — tell me if pressure needs to come down and I'll adjust immediately.

Is it normal to feel sore afterwards?

Mild soreness for 24-48 hours is common, similar to how you'd feel after a hard workout, and usually settles into noticeably better mobility.
